About the film:

Rubber Dolphin (Dolfin MeGumi) is Ori Aharon’s graduation film at the Steve Tisch School of Film and Television at the Tel Aviv University. The film is supported by The Rabinovich Foundation for the Arts – Cinema Project and The Blavatnik Fund for Student Films.

Rubber Dolphin is a personal, semi-autobiographical work that looks into the relations between sexuality and emotion as it comes to be in an occasional encounter between homosexual men. The 28-minute film takes place mostly between the sheets and consists of long close-up shots, which provide a close look into the depths of the protagonists’ minds, within and outside of the sexual interaction.

The film was premiered at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival as part of the Cinéfondation, which is considered as the world’s most prestigious student film competition.

About the filmmaker:

Ori Aharon is a scriptwriter and a film director who was born and raised in Haifa and lives in Tel Aviv, Israel. Rubber Dolphin is his graduation film at the Steve Tisch School of Film and Television at Tel Aviv University. These days Ori is writing a script for a feature film based on the protagonist of his short film. At the center of which is a story of a journey full of disappointments in the hero’s search for the “spark” in his life.

Joseph A. Adesunloye is an award winning British-Nigerian Filmmaker. He was nominated for the BFI IWC Schaffhausen Filmmakers Bursary Award at the 60th BFI London Film Festival in 2016.

In 2017 Joseph was longlisted ‘Best Debut Screenwriter’ for the prestigious BIFA Awards (British Independent Film Awards) where his film White Colour Black was longlisted for a total of two Awards including the category of ‘Most Promising New Comer’ for the film’s star Dudley O’Shaughnessy. Though White Colour Black is Joseph’s feature film debut as a director, Joseph has been in the film industry for a decade. He’s directed numerous shorts and worked as Producer & Co-Producer on other shorts and features.

Joseph graduated from the University of Aberdeen with a Masters of Arts English Literature & Film Studies. He later attended the London Film Academy where he completed a filmmaking diploma, focusing on directing and screenwriting. After graduating in 2008 he started freelancing in film and set up his own film production company, DreamCoat Productions.

Joseph’s new short film 46 tackled the difficult topic of male rape. 46 had its world premiere at the Raindance Film Festival. 46 was also nominated ‘Best UK Short’ for its outstanding and bold treatment of the subject. The film is currently playing the festival circuit.

In 2014 Joseph’s short Beyond Plain Sight also premiered at Raindance and was nominated ‘Best British Short Film’. The film went on to play BFI Flare, London Short Film Festival and other festivals across the world.

Joseph is currently completing postproduction work on his second feature film Faces which stars Terry Pheto (Tsotsi, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, A United Kingdom) Shingai Shoniwa (The Noisettes) Matthieu Charneau (Arnaud fait son 2e film, The Bastard Executioner, Bad Bunny) Aki Omoshaybi (The Riot Club, Kids In Love, Star Wars: The Last Jedi), Suzette Llewellyn (Desmond’s, Holby City, EastEnders, Coronation Street)

At a house party fifteen year old Bram is surrounded by friends and draws the attention of many pretty girls. But he has no interest in them. He has fallen hopelessly in love with the pretty boy on the dance floor: seventeen year old Florian.

About Director:
Niels Bourgonje (1980) is an award winning short film and commercial director based in Amsterdam. Niels started out as an intern on the international feature film THE DEVILS DOUBLE which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. He graduated with the short thriller BURN, which was selected for several international filmfestivals winning numerous awards. His follow-up was the high intensity drama ORDER. In 2014 Niels directed PEACE AND QUIET, winning the 48 Hour Film Project. Shortly after, the black comedy won two awards at the Filmapalooza in Hollywood. In 2015 he made three short films back-to-back; NEIGHBOURS, DESERTED and BUDDY. BUDDY has been selected for more than sixty filmfestivals worldwide, including Palm Springs ShortFest. This year Niels will release two new short films: TURN IT AROUND and SKOGAFOSS.

Marcos is an 18-year-old living on a rented cattle ranch with his older brother and parents, Carlos and Olga. Marcos has sewn female clothing and stolen accessories and attends a local carnival dressed as his female alter-ego, Marilyn. There, he dances with the son of a local rancher, who recognizes who Marilyn is and feels embarrassed. As Marcos leaves the carnival and heads home, he is stopped by the rancher’s son and raped. When Marilyn returns home the next morning, Olga is furious at her child’s activities and destroys all of his female clothing.

When Carlos dies suddenly, the family is forced to consider leaving the ranch and moving to a new urban development. While visiting the development, Marcos meets another young man who works in a local shop and they begin a relationship. Olga discovers the relationship and takes away Marcos’ mobile phone. He wakes up early one morning and kills both his brother and his mother.

Private Dicks: Men Exposed is a 1999 American HBO TV documentary on the human penis. The film was directed by Thom Powers and Meema Spadola . The 58-minute documentary features 25 men with age ranging from young to old, and who work in a variety of professions, some of whom are professional performers. A mix of heterosexual, homosexual and bisexual men, along with two transgender individuals, were interviewed. They were interviewed nude on a variety of topics related to their genitals and sexuality, including first sexual experience, frequency of masturbation, penis size, oral sex, libido, and sexual performance.

I made this montage out of my love of both Ian Gallagher and Mickey Milkovich. I love both characters with their on again/off again romance. Season 10 ended with their marriage, which felt so incredibly satisfying. The characters have evolved over the past 10 years with ups and downs and I have watched every second of it. I have to say, TOTALLY WORTH IT! They may be a fictional couple and they are not conventional in any means but I have enjoyed their dynamic and how different they are from most other tv couples, gay or straight. I can't wait to watch the final season.

When a young gay man has unprotected sex without revealing his HIV status, guilt propels him down a rabbit hole of memory, regret, and surreal manifestations of his past.

When Aaron finds HIV medication in his roommate’s drawer, he is thrown into a state of uncertainty, knowing they share a sexual partner. As his paranoia and denial grow, it becomes difficult to differentiate reality from imagination, lies from the bare truth.

A small quiet place in Thuringia. Andreas’ (42) workshop is running well again and Martin (43) is not as much on the road as before. Son Max (19) is out of the house. Finally, the two have more time for themselves and travel in November to the Baltic Sea – as they have always done it before. But Martin is dissatisfied: the weather is bad and he would have preferred to stay at home. Andreas tears off his clothes and throws himself into the cold sea. Full of care, Martin tries to pull him back and swallows the salty water as he stumbles. Back in their holiday home the mood is disturbed by the different expectations. A cautious approach to the traces of a long relationship. Paths tells the love of two people. Not how they got together, not a period that they live through, but their day-to-day-life: all the years between the first kiss and now.

Benjamin Howard is an Emmy award-winning writer, director, and producer. Recipient of the New Filmmaker Award at the 2018 San Diego Film Awards, Benjamin’s narrative projects have enjoyed several successful runs in the festival circuit.

Benjamin is a graduate of San Diego State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Television, Film and New Media. His undergraduate thesis film “”Deviant”” was programmed at Outfest Los Angeles last summer and has been screened at other festivals around the world, including HollyShorts, Cleveland International, and Nashville Film Festival.

Benjamin is currently enrolled in the Film Production / Directing M.F.A. at UCLA. He lives in Westwood, CA.

Director Biography – Marco Aurélio Gal

Master in Cinema and Semiotics, Marco Aurélio Gal is an independent filmmaker with films screened from north to south of Brazil, who also worked on music videos, short and feature films, helping direct artists like Nathalia Dill, Giovanna Lancellotti and Pabllo Vittar.

Wrote, produced and directed “Where the sky sets the clock” (Onde o céu acerta seus ponteiros), a guerilla film made in partnership with Museu da Diversidade Sexual. The musical gay romance is set to screen at the 21th ReelOut Queer Film Festival 2020 and was featured in dozens of festivals, film clubs and cruise ships in Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Canada and United States, where it won the “Celebration of Latin America” Award. It was raved by Falk Steinborn from German channel Queerblick TV: “the pureness of the story and the unforeseen play with cliches makes the film an example of how LGBT films can create a smile in the viewers face and make them feel hugged”.

His next film is dedicated to his late friend “How to hold a cloud to the ground” (Como segurar uma nuvem no chao) a poetic, lyrical and sensorial tale about what happens after “THE END”. It was screened at Children and Young Panorama at the 21th Festival Brasileiro de Cinema Universitário. The fantasy won “Best Art Direction” (2nd FantasNóia) and “Best Cinematography” (9th FilmWorks Film Festival).

Australian gay drama about a hunky, good looking, straight acting, successful gay couple who desperately want a child. The two leads are very good actors and totally convincing as a non-stereotypical gay couple. Lots of drama and uncomfortable scenes unfold after they get involved with a very troubled pregnant woman who doesn’t want her child. The ending makes a political statement about the legality of gays adopting. High production values and very believable acting. At times, it was almost too real. Likeable characters except….please STOP the smoking. It’s unhealthy and low class!!!! It’s rare that gay characters are portrayed as non-smokers.

A young gay man finds how to love himself and accept love from another, despite the disapproval of his father.

“More Than Only” is a coming of age story about Justin, a young man whose father disapproves of him being gay.

The film was made in 31 days, and filmed in 14 different locations all over the metro area, including at Mike’s Drive-In, DJ’s Treasures on the Hill, Abernethy Chapel and three private homes in Oregon City. The cast and crew also spent five days in Bandon, filming a crucial beach scene.

“We’re in the final phases of production, including sound and sound mastering,” Leigh said, noting that a composer from London found her on social media and is writing the original score for the movie.

Why should people go to her website and contribute to the movie?

“This is a high-quality film. The reason I wrote the film is because it is my way of supporting the [LGBT] community,” Leigh said. “It is helping me give something back and gives them hope.”

“More Than Only” is “a true romantic comedy that just happens to have a gay couple at the center, but it’s more about normalizing [their relationship],” she said.

“Regardless of your bias, now is the time for all of us to open up and think outside the box. And I’m hoping the film can play a part in opening some of those conversations.”
