Julián Hernández (born 1972 in Mexico City, Mexico as Julián Hernández Pérez) is a Mexican multi-awarded filmmaker. He won twice the Teddy Award at Berlin Film Festival with his movies Thousand Clouds of Peace Fence the Sky, Love, Your Being Love Will Never End (2003), and Raging Sun, Raging Sky (2009). He studied at the Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos (CUEC), from where he was expelled due to his gay-themed films during a homophobic administration, and was not mentioned as a serious director until he started winning international recognition. He has credited his use of cinematographic language to influences from filmmakers such as Michelangelo Antonioni, Leonardo Favio, Robert Bresson, and Alain Resnais. Hernández has directed more than 20 awarded short films (both documentaries and fictional), and became a gay-cinema icon for his feature films, including Broken Sky. Along with producer and director Roberto Fiesco, he founded Cooperativa Cinematográfica Morelos. which later became the prestigious production company Mil Nubes Cine, producing 29 films over two decades.

Adolfo Alix’s 4 Days explores first love through the eyes of Mark (Mikoy Morales), who instantly falls in love when he meets Derek (Sebastian Castro). The story is set in the University of the Philippines Diliman campus, where Mark and Derek become roommates and, eventually, closeted lovers during their stay at the university.

The film takes viewers through the minute details of falling in love, the pain that comes with unreciprocated affection, and the difficulties of trying to sustain a same-sex relationship while still the closet. On the surface Mark and Derek appear as typical girl-crazed college students, but within the 4 walls of their room, they harbor a secret that one of them wants to share with the rest of the world.

4 Days represents a lot of firsts for the two actors. It’s the first time for either to be cast in lead roles for a full-length feature film. Mikoy even had his first ever kissing scene as an actor in this movie.

Beautifully played out by all parties, including Matthew Wilkas previously seen in Jonathan Lisecki’s Gayby as a man petrified by that curious thing called love, gay fashion, this movingly honest piece cuts to the core in the sole scene in which the narrative is broken, spoken words that achingly detail a heartrending decision destined to set both men upon their sexual path in life. That the Mills / Hain boys then go on to illustrate the consequences of that life changing moment, makes for a short film, the first of three, that in examining the lives of gay men in New York City, sets out to say it – like it is.

Gabo (Gastón Re) is the kind of person who is buffeted by life’s events. His wife dies, so the young father deposits his daughter with her grandparents and moves to Buenos Aires where he takes a job in a carpentry workshop. He rents a room in the flat of a colleague, Juan (Alfonso Barón). Juan has a number of slobby friends who frequently and unexpectedly visit, making the already messy flat even messier. Gabo uncomplainingly cleans up after them (when he is not prone on his bed reading). Even after he and Juan start a sexual relationship (the only time in the film Gabo takes the initiative), Gabo looks on, uncomplaining as ever, while Juan continues bedding not only his girlfriend but also, perhaps, another man.

‘The Blond One’ is 108 minutes long and – perhaps because I saw the film in the very crowded cinema of the British Film Institute’s ‘Flare’ festival for LGBTQ+ films – feels every one of them. There are several shots of the carpentry workshop, of Gabo watering his plants, and of groups of men engaged in inconsequential chatter. They undeniably set the tone of the film (slow), but there should have been fewer of them. Not helping matters is central character Gabo’s personality: he is *so* quiet, *so* unobtrusive, that it is almost as if he is not there half the time. On the plus side, Re does a competent job of portraying Gabo’s hurt with bewildered looks (and does not let his status as co-producer excuse him from his fair share of the film’s nudity duties). Barón, who according to his IMDb listing is an inexperienced actor, provides a good naturalistic performance.

The show has a world-wide fan base and the creators/stars have been flown to Europe, Australia, and Mexico due to the show’s immense popularity!

Season 6 follows the exploits of four gay bear roommates living together in Los Angeles as one of them is framed for the murder of a beloved TV star, while another is stalked by a former lover, and another tries to stop the assassination of a foreign dignitary! The season consists of 16 episodes posted every Monday and Thursday. Season 6 is a romp through LA that features climactic, nail-biting set pieces in a courtroom, the mountains of Big Bear, and a scenic rooftop of an office building!

Featuring guest appearances by Jennifer Elise Cox (The Brady Bunch Movie), Peter Hulne (Elf and Anchorman) and Lou Dimaggio (Curb Your Enthusiasm). The series is designed to appeal to both gay and straight audiences alike and premieres online August 31st, 2017.

In spring 1942, a young duty-bound gay man must decide whether to serve overseas or stay in New York City with his streetwise lover.

IT ALL BEGAN IN KATIE ENNIS’ LIVING ROOM
In fall of 2014, Gary sat on the couch and presented the screenplay for Sunset to Katie’s writing group, which included Gary and Skylar. Everyone agreed the film had to be made.

Over the next year and a half, the screenplay became a play and was produced several times around NYC. When actor Ryan Trout turned in a dazzling performance as “Arnie” in one of those productions, the team decided it was time to make the film.

Conveniently, Katie was moving out of her pre-war Brooklyn apartment, and her bedroom with its beautiful bay window would be empty for a week. Katie pointed to the calendar, to a weekend late in April of 2016 — that’s when we’re making this movie.

Skylar and Katie revved up the production engine, assembling a team of terrific artists to take on the task of making Sunset. With Ryan cast as Arnie, they had to find the right actor to play opposite. Fortunatley Niccolo Walsh responded to the casting call. From the moment the audition began, Niccolo’s quiet dignity was breathtaking, as was his chemistry with Ryan.

Now all of the pieces were in place. Over the course of a wonderful two-day shoot, Sunset became real.

Henry Cavill’s fans aren’t the only ones who are thirsty. The new face of Geralt of Rivia recently sat down with Graham Norton back in his native England to talk about his role on Netflix’s The Witcher. The scene everyone was desperate for after the first Witcher trailer arrived – the monster-hunting Geralt sitting in that famous wooden bathtub, naked as the day he was born – was the big clip featured during Cavill’s interview with Norton, and that naturally invited questions about how he prepared for The Witcher’s most famous scene.

It’s a family affair, and Rory (Ben Walsh) is on familiar ground. He knows each burly man who comes in for a mid-dance piss break, and his dad is playing the fiddle in the band. But Dan (Joe Sefton), his visiting boyfriend, couldn’t be further out of place – and there’s something Rory hasn’t told him. Once Rory manages to coax him out the cubicle, previously unaddressed questions over masculinity and communication are brought to the fore and their conversation unfurls into a flaming row, paused at regular intervals by urinating family friends, and incongruously underscored throughout by the rising ceilidh music coming through the wall.
