Jérémie has a job recruiting subjects for testing. He’d rather recruit Rodrigue for something else entirely.

“Plutôt d’accord”, french gay short film directed by Christophe Botti and Stephane Botti distributed on Pink TV and MTV network in november 2004.

Jeremy is a young, introverted gay man who dreams of true love. His colleague, Celine, encourages him to make use of his job – they both recruit passers-by for consumer tests – to meet Mr. Right. The perfect occasion arises when Rodrigue appears on the scene. His physique mightily perturbs Jeremy. Celine pushes him into telephoning Rodrigue. But Jeremy’s shyness and akwardness drag him into a complicated story…

Out in the Dark (2012)

96 min|Drama, Romance, Thriller|27 Sep 2013
7.5Rating: 7.5 / 10 from 5,729 usersMetascore: 69
A drama centered on the love affair between two men on opposite sides of the Mid-East conflict: Palestinian student Nimer and Roy, an Israeli lawyer.

A gay love story straddling the Israel-Palestine divide. Roy (Michael Aloni) is a well-to-do Israeli lawyer, Nimr (Nicholas Jacob) a young Palestinian on an educational permit in Tel Aviv. They fall in love, then into a whole heap of trouble as Israeli security services start investigating Namir’s militant brother. There’s romance and tragedy, but little depth and no nuance. Aloni and Jacob make for beautiful lovers, yet first-time director Michael Mayer has a tough time playing a catchy tune with just two notes.

Out In The dark

Nimer and Roy are two gay men on opposing sides of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict who fall for each other. Much as they’d like to be left alone, both political conflict and orthodox beliefs will not leave their budding relationship untouched, with most of the egregious circumstances befalling Nimer, whom security forces pressure into helping them by stripping his access to education and threatening to leave him without family. Through his eye-witnessed death of a friend, Nimer knows he can’t oblige. Can love find a way through this no-win situation?

Brazil | frolicking on the beach – HappyChow

If you were to ask me, I’d say a trip to Rio without a day or two spent on the beach catching the waves and the sun and mingling with the locals is never authentic at all.
It’s a whole unique culture here…you go to the beach to talk business, close deals, meet up with friends, study for your exams, play foot-volleyball, make new acquaintances, get the latest gossip, etc.
In many respects, beach life typifies the Brazilian attitude where the body-proud lifestyle and innate sense of acceptance come together. Hence, it doesn’t matter whether you’re rich or poor, gay or straight, fat, skinny or muscular, black, white or mulatto…it’s the city’s most democratic space.
In fact, I owe some of my best memories of Brazil to the times I lolled on the beach, striking up conversations with the cariocas (though it’s mostly the other way around), playing some Altinha or simply dipping into the waters. ~ HappyChow

MAGIC H8 BALL (2019)

|Short, Comedy|July 2019
N/ARating: N/AMetascore: N/A
Burned by his cheating boyfriend (and some mild chlamydia) a heartbroken pushover turns to a mysterious Magic 8 Ball for the answers in this dude-on-dude dramedy about love, hate, and the importance of getting tested regularly.

Magic H8 Ball follows an insecure, heartbroken people pleaser who finds out his boyfriend is cheating on him when he tests positive for chlamydia. Awesome.
Unsure whether to confront his boyfriend or take the pills and act like nothing happened, Adam turns to a sassy, self-aware Magic 8 Ball in the clinic’s waiting room that seems to have all the answers. At a loss for what to do next, he asks the Magic 8 Ball if it will make his decisions for him. It says yes.
What follows is an irreverent, inappropriate, and fun-as-hell adventure of self-expression, freedom, and finding yourself as the Magic 8 Ball gives Adam permission to anything and everything he wants—his id unleashed, with no consequences in sight.
But as his hurt turns to hate, the prophetic (and possibly demonic?) kid’s toy takes on a mind of its own, setting Adam on a dark path as he moves from one manipulative relationship to another.

From director:
So, yeah. I got chlamydia. Once. Maybe twice.
Don’t look at me like that—we’ve all been there. Stuck in the clinic waiting
room, leg shaking, checking out the guy across from you even though, duh,
he’s probably here for the same reason you are. It’s an awkward, itchy,
embarrassing experience. And it can turn devastating fast when you find out
that you contracted gono-whatever from someone you thought you could
trust. That hurts. A lot.

Inflammation aside, Magic H8 Ball is about the unanswerable questions we
ask ourselves after a shock like that. What did I do wrong? Do I love him
more than he loves me? Did he cheat on me because my nipples point
different directions?

Gay heartbreak (like gay relationships) are their own beast, and Magic H8
Ball tries to capture with full honesty (and hopefully, hilarity) the 20-
something gay experience in 2019. It’s a wild, weird, heartfelt, and
refreshingly inappropriate dude-on-dude dramedy—and every ounce of credit
belongs to the amazing, hardworking, super attractive, and entirely LGBTQ+
cast, crew, and creative team who connected with the film on a level I never
even imagined, ran with it, and worked their asses off for months and months
to bring this to life.
We’ve all been Adam. Felt the shame, confusion, and dejection he’s trying to
cope with. Wished for an easy answer to our problems. Gotten a taste of
pure freedom and been left craving more. Let our hate and insecurities get
the better of us. But it’s a story we all share—as heartfelt as it is humorous as
it is real. And now, we’re excited to share it with you.
Also, go get tested.
– Dan Hass

You’re the voice – Stonewall riots

The Stonewall riots were a series of spontaneous, violent demonstrations by members of the gay community against a police raid that began in the early morning hours of June 28, 1969, at the Stonewall Inn in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City.
Dates: Jun 28, 1969 – Jul 1, 1969
Location: Greenwich Village, New York, United States
Goal: Gay liberation
Methods: Riot, Demonstration

Gay Americans in the 1950s and 1960s faced an anti-gay legal system. Early homophile groups in the U.S. sought to prove that gay people could be assimilated into society, and they favored non-confrontational education for homosexuals and heterosexuals alike. The last years of the 1960s, however, were very contentious, as many social/political movements were active, including the civil rights movement, the counterculture of the 1960s, and the anti-Vietnam War movement. These influences, along with the liberal environment of Greenwich Village, served as catalysts for the Stonewall riots.

Very few establishments welcomed openly gay people in the 1950s and 1960s. Those that did were often bars, although bar owners and managers were rarely gay. At the time, the Stonewall Inn was owned by the Mafia. It catered to an assortment of patrons and was known to be popular among the poorest and most marginalized people in the gay community: drag queens, transgender people, effeminate young men, butch lesbians, male prostitutes, and homeless youth. Police raids on gay bars were routine in the 1960s, but officers quickly lost control of the situation at the Stonewall Inn. Tensions between New York City police and gay residents of Greenwich Village erupted into more protests the next evening, and again several nights later. Within weeks, Village residents quickly organized into activist groups to concentrate efforts on establishing places for gays and lesbians to be open about their sexual orientation without fear of being arrested.

Guardian (2018)

15 min|Short, Drama|2018
N/ARating: N/AMetascore: N/A
A remorseful mother counsels her suicidal son through video diaries as he struggles to embrace his sexuality.
Manuel (Carlos Flores, Jr) is a gay Latino teen who lacks guidance and support. Even though his mother, Anna (Virginia Blanco) deeply cares for him, she is only able to prove and instill her love through videotapes made from afar. Keeping his sexuality and boyfriend (Connery Morano) a secret from his homophobic father (Roy Manzanares), Manuel must decide the life he wants to live or end.

Director Statement
Guardian was made to honor my mother who died of cancer when I was five years old. During her battle with the terminal illness, my mother purchased a camera and intended to create tapes for me to watch throughout my life. However, she believed that if those tapes were made then she would be ultimately accepting the fact that she wouldn’t see me grow. Therefore, she tucked the camera away. After she passed, I was raised by my dad who tried to mold me into his own image, but my mom’s presence never left me. This film is an exploration of my memories of her and what I think she would have told me if she was still alive.

Manuel’s story is about choosing between prescriptive masculinity and unconditional love and acceptance. Within the Latinx community, the patriarchal system influences interpersonal relationships. As a result, many members of the LGBT community, experience abuse, and internalized oppression. Within the story, Manuel is forced deeper in the closet by his own father’s machismoism, but his mother’s love reaches him. Creating a realistic story world with inevitable tragedy, I wanted Anna and Manuel to be strong, relatable, and imperfect characters who find peace in a time of distress.

Guardian has screened at over a dozen festivals, received several awards including Best LGBT Film, Best Directing, and a Barbara Hammer grant that allowed us to continue the festival circuit. As a first-time filmmaker, I am proud of what the short has accomplished and how it has impacted audiences.
