Sex Date is about two men who find a connection when least expected. I used to live in an LA neighborhood where helicopters frequently loomed. The story came to mind one night, when I imagined what would happen if a guy, expecting an online hook-up date, mistakenly invited in the man who was on the run. And what if the man on the run was not a bad person? I was intrigued by the possibility of danger, but allowed the story to evolve as a subtle love story. Both men are running from an aspect of their lives; one from a mistake and the other, simply from loneliness. It’s a short film with tenderness, humor, and even an interrupted blow job (well, simulated… it’s not porn, for goodness sake). It also has a sense of doom to it, as I suppose all love stories do.
