Four filmmakers from Germany have put a sign for the victims of Orlando. In a touching short film they remember the 49 innocent lesbian, gay, bisexuals and trans* people who have been killed.

ORLANDO was an attack on the LGBT* community. It was an attack on diversity and acceptance of a modern society. We put a sign to not forget #ORLANDO and to prevent this is going to happen again.

The series deals with Leopold (Age 17) who does not want to identify himself through his sexuality, with Noah (Age 24) who’s BDSM fetish challenges his boyfriend, Jan (Age 20), a nurse, who’s biggest dream is to study medicine. Moreover, promiscuous Marcel (Age 21) who works as a banker and has to live with his HIV infection. Last but not least, Lukas (Age 19) who moves from the country to the big city to get away from his parent’s control. The stories of these five men become intertwined and what results is a story that encapsulates what it means to be a young gay man in a big city.?

Director´s Biography

Alexan Sarikamichian, born and raised in Argentina, began his career as a producer with more than 10 short films such as “La Donna” and “Pude ver un Puma” which got nominated in The Cannes Film Festival. He also produced feature films such as “Juana a las 12″, “Paula”, “Juan Meisen ha muerto” and “El Auge del Humano” films that had global recognition and gave him the opportunity to attend San Sebastian Festival.
In music he found the possibility to produce video clips for Miranda, Luciano Pereyra, Abel Pintos, India Martinez, Indios Rock-Pop and Dani Umpi.
After years of developing himself as a producer, he started his career as a director with the music video called CHICOS, his first fashion oriented film “Nadie hace el amor en soledad” and short films titled: “COSMOS” with more than 50k plays, “Total Destrucción” and “FATAL”.

By February 2017, NOWNESS launched Alexan’s Best of.

Absolutely beautiful & powerful film

I was so touched, and moved when I watched this movie, that I just literally just turned off my computer, closed my eyes and cried. It wasn’t because it was a huge heart wrenching film with all the bells and whistles, that tore my heart out and chewed it up – rather it left me with the deep hope & wish that all friends could overcome labels, the bullshit of society and be as genuine and precious & supportive as this.

I sincerely loved every second of this short film, from the flickers of seagulls and sounds of the beach, boys being boys, the warmth in the acting, to the beautiful sensual scenes between the friends.

My absolute respect to the writers, directors, actors etc of this film. Hands down, BEST gay/youth/coming of age short film I’ve seen.

Featuring Sam von Wentz and Ryan Walker Page, Boys Like Us, considers the vulnerability, isolation and desire for connection felt by adolescent guys coming into their identity as gay men.

A highly-collaborative process with the dancers–employing the rich authenticity of improvisation, a triangulation of our shared and disparate experiences, abstracted in time and space–this work (in progress) offers a glimmer into what it is like to be Boys Like Us.
