Director’s Statement
‘Jamie’ is intended as a simple portrait, telling the story of an emotional awakening that takes place in ordinary circumstances, but is nonetheless life-changing and formative for its protagonist. The film reveals the private emotional struggle of its shy and introverted central character and was conceived as a quiet drama, uncovering the major conflicts in Jamie’s life as he unexpectedly discloses them to a stranger over the course of an afternoon. The dialogue was written to be intimate, personal and touching. I intended to make ‘Jamie’ a conversational film; one in which the naturalistic tone and style would imply a kind of ‘realism’ in the encounter between the two characters. I wanted to go on a journey with a character that struggles and falters in his search for love, not because of traditional external obstacles, but because of the internal ones that are working their way to the surface. ‘Jamie’ is about opening up with both another person and with oneself.

In a motel room a sexual threesome has been arranged. The two men lying in wait are officers from the Central Narcotics Bureau, ready to apprehend their suspect, who is going to show up with crystal meth at any moment.
In a dingy motel room that is as hot and clammy as the jungle painted on its walls, a sexual threesome has been arranged to take place. Except that the two men lying in wait are officers from the Central Narcotics Bureau, ready to apprehend their suspect, who is going to show up with crystal meth at any moment.
Staff Sergeant Boon is garrulous and relaxed; for him, this is a job just like any other. Inspector Anton, on the other hand, is preoccupied and tense, and is increasingly restless. As the wait for the suspect lengthens, it is apparent Anton has something infinitely more personal at stake.
In what appears to be a routine crackdown operation, which walls will come tumbling down, and what thresholds will be crossed? In the film’s tropical swelter, how does one ascertain that everything one sees is not a mirage from a fragmenting mind?

Director’s Statement (2009):

It was April Fool’s Day in 2006, when the incident happened. 27-year-old medical student Adrian Yeo See Seng was arrested for the possession of drugs in a hotel along Bencoolen Street in Singapore. The incident came out in the papers a few months later and a mix of emotions ran through me as I read about the details of how he was entrapped by two Central Narcotics Bureau Officers.
I was indignant, angry, worried and frustrated – most importantly I was wondering, what would I have done if I were in his shoes? Being human, would I have been able to resist the promise of sex by a charming stranger?
Adrian and I graduated from the same secondary school and junior college, and like him, I am gay. I never knew him personally, but I almost knew how it felt like to be him, living out your teenage years in a repressive all boys’ school.
At the same time, I sympathised with the two officers who were tasked to trap him. Did they have any moral dilemma about the task at hand? Did their colleagues crack homophobic jokes about them? Who were these faceless, nameless people? Under this surge of confused emotions, I penned my first draft of the script.

That was almost 2 years ago, fast forward to the present. Earlier this year, while casually talking about this incident to some friends, someone mentioned that Adrian has passed away – he died as a result of health complications. The sudden news of his demise came as a shock to me, and I felt it was time I did something with this script I had written, before the memory of this incident gets erased over time.
This fictionalised treatment of the incident does not serve to be a factual account of the event, but rather a means for us to question ourselves – a mirror for self-reflection. Ultimately I am questioning what choices would a person make in a situation like this, in my nation that supposedly values “society before self”.

Impact tells the story of the mental journey of a high diver in the seconds before his jump.
Impact is a world first in several respects:
The vertical format – 4K – 1000fps slow-motion – the environment (underwater and cliffs).
Impact is a team imaging adventure, directed by Jean-Charles Granjon and shot in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region of southeast France. This is thus a condensed reflection of the cinematic expertise of Marseille, southeast France.

Lionel Franc, world champion cliff diver head first is the “hero” of Impact.

Impact is also a reflection about the way we use our natural environment. The wonderfull natural sites where we shot this short film is just 7km away from a site wich still undergo a massive pollution by an Alluminium Industry from The City of Gardane, south of France. This has been lasting for 50 years. More than 20 millions tons of toxic wastes are now lying under the surface of mediterranea.
A national Parc was created on this pollution site and you know what? Aluminium industry still have permission to pollut!

“I know who you are, Kid.”

Set in the often clandestine world of Latino boxing in East Los Angeles, Kid mentally replays his ring opponent’s death over and over. Outside of the ring, it’s a violent match in his head and his heart: his love-starved wife is begging for affection, his son is looking for a father figure and, within himself, Kid must man up and admit what he really is: a homosexual. ‘Two Men’ – by young Chinese director, Zhao Yuanhao, with choreography by Yang Shao and an original score by Gao Xin. A live dance performance will follow, as well as a Q&A session where you can meet the Director, Assistant Director and members of the cast.

This promises to be a truly magical evening, as POP-UP BEIJING is taken over for one memorable night of glorious story-telling and dance. Don’t miss it!

SUMMARY

The film tells a story from an all-male society – two young men fall in love with each other, but as their relationship becomes deeper, they draw more attention to themselves.

Their “unspeakable love” is surrounded by challenges and accusations – attacked and crushed under the pressure of society. However, although the needs of the few seem unreasonable to the masses, hope remains, love remains, and the passion to honour one’s true self fights on.

As an award-winning experimental movie, the narrative technique is quite different from traditional filmmaking. The story is confined to a fixed stage, rather than told through real-life. Through pure gesture and dance, and with no dialogue, actors subtly yet clearly tell the whole story.

The film-writer and director, Mr Zhao Yuanhao, and assistant director Ms Liu Yiyi will be present with cast members. A special dance performance will take place, and a Q&A session will be held, offering the wonderful opportunity to see the performers in action, and to talk to them about their work.

My goal is to create performance art that inspires a kinder world for the queer community by challenging social norms, raising questions and starting conversations. I am creating a series of conceptual videos about gender identity, human nature, queer culture and how the world treats individuals who are “different” but exactly the same. The challenge for me is that video production can be very expensive, so please subscribe and stay connected through instagram/facebook to help make future projects possible! By creating performance art that evokes emotion and is undeniably beautiful, I hope to use these creations to deliver important social messages and open minds towards a kinder future.

“Hallelujah” is a concept about choosing kindness, regardless of your religion or beliefs. It tells the story of an individual troubled by the hate in the world, and his partner who is trying to lift him up, and remind him that’s he is beautiful the way he is. This video is inspired by all the hate messages I received after my first creation “THE ARROW”… It is inspired by the protestors I see at every pride with signs of hate. Using religion as a weapon seems so backwards to me. My message is that religion should inspire more kindness and open arms, even towards those you may not understand.

When the fiancee of a fireman reluctantly agrees to participate in a menage a trois with another woman, she does so on the condition that he reciprocate the favor with another man, which ultimately puts their impending marriage in jeopardy.

Everyone has a fantasy, and some people don’t openly talk to their lovers about it. I don’t think Anthony is selfish, just honest about his fantasy.

Lane Janger not only stars in the droll new pansexual comedy Just One Time, he also directed and coproduced it and cowrote the script. Developed from a short film of the same name, Janger’s film focuses on straight, macho fireman Anthony (Janger), who pressures his fiancee to fulfill his fantasy that she have sex with another woman “just one time.” She agrees–but only if he’ll sleep with another man. Enter an exuberant gay youth (Guillermo Diaz) and an earthy lesbian (Jennifer Esposito), evidently ready to pair off with the straight lovers as needed.

The award winning filmmaker voices his support for the Equality Act with an emotional story about his brother’s coming out journey. Text EQUALITY ACT to 472472 to become a Community Co-Sponsor today.

In a deeply emotional moment, Black opens up about his late big brother, Marcus, who came out him when they were on the set of, Milk, a 2008 film that Black wrote.

He discussed how much Marcus enjoyed living in the American South, but that he ‘had to leave to feel safe,’ referencing numerous southern states’ poor protections for LGBTI people.

‘And I saw how that took a toll on him,’ Black says. Marcus died of cancer in 2012.

‘He never, ever knew what it must feel like to live in a place he loved,’ Black adds. ‘To live in a place that he called home. And to do so knowing that the words of our constitution applied to him equally – that he also had the right to pursue happiness and to be free.’

Black also spoke about his outlook on life after becoming a father. He said it has given him a new perspective on his sexuality.

‘I have a view into being an LGBTQ person that I didn’t have before,’ says Black. ‘[I want our son] be completely honest about who he is and how he came into this world, and that he has a Dada and a Papa.

‘I want him to be proud of our family. I’m going to do all that I can to make sure that that happens. But I could also use the help of the law.

‘And that means passing the Equality Act. So that LGBTQ families and our children are protected,’ he adds.

The first season has eight episodes, and a second season is already being filmed on location in Mexico City and Puerto Vallarta.

They were in town for two reasons. They were scouting locations to film at least a couple episodes for season two of the popular Spanish-language web series Con Lugar, and they were also hopeful they could acquire a number of sponsorships from local organizations that might be interested in promoting business to an audience that, surprising to even them, has grown worldwide.

In the span of just six months, Con Lugar amassed over 4 million views on YouTube—where all of the eight episodes of season one are housed—and gained 75,000 followers. Its popularity has expanded beyond Mexico’s borders to reach viewers in Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Spain and even the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States.
